Meet Kiana Thompson

My work explores the goodness and beauty found in everyday life. It aims to see beyond the mundane and into the mysterious, piercing the thin veil between the natural and the supernatural. I seek to uncover the hidden treasures that everyday life has to offer. I desire to encourage others to find redemption and renewal amidst life’s chaos and imperfect circumstances.

I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, where my passion for art began at a young age. I spent countless hours drawing and experimenting with different artistic mediums, always eager to express the world around me through creativity. During high school, I enrolled in Advanced Placement art courses and participated in several local art exhibitions, experiences that deepened my love for artistic expression and encouraged me to pursue it further.

I continued to refine my skills at the university level, exploring new techniques and developing my artistic voice. In 2022, after relocating to Australia with my family, I discovered a particular affinity for printmaking—a medium that allowed me to merge precision with creativity in a deeply fulfilling way. The following year, I co-hosted a joint exhibition titled Prints and Pots, collaborating with local ceramicists to showcase our work.

I currently sell my prints through local artist shops at Central Craft and online platforms. After completing several art classes at a local university and earning a Certificate IV in Art, I decided to follow my dream of becoming a full-time professional artist. To further my growth, I enrolled in the Milan Art Mastery Program, an academically rigorous course designed to strengthen both technical skill and creative vision. I am scheduled to graduate in late 2025.

I now live in the remote outback town of Alice Springs, Australia, with my husband and our four sons. My studio overlooks the beautiful golf course and is framed by the breathtaking MacDonnell Mountain Ranges, with their striking sandstone ridges, magnificent gorges, and pristine waterholes. Surrounded by such natural beauty, I find endless inspiration for my work.

At present, I am focused on building my portfolio and preparing for the launch of my professional website. I plan to participate in juried exhibitions and aspire to travel across Australia to share my art with a wider audience, continuing to grow both as an artist and as a storyteller through my creative journey.

It serves as a call to reveal divine beauty. It encourages us to aspire for greater heights. I invite you to discover the mystery in everyday life, asserting that the ordinary is where true life resides. Life is a precious hidden gem within the mundane, revealing the splendor of heaven. It’s a pursuit of peace and goodness in the present, regardless of our circumstances. Beauty and joy can emerge even amidst imperfections and life's challenges.

My art delves into themes of faith, hope, and wonder. It reflects faith in God and how it influences our actions, hope for a brighter future, and the goodness still present in the world, along with the wonder found in life’s little mysteries.

Subjects within my work typically feature undefined, abstract backgrounds, rich with textures, both visually and physically engaging the observer, while representational figures take center stage. I employ high contrast in color to create dramatic effects and explore the intricate interplay of light. Techniques like printmaking and collage are thoughtfully integrated into the base layers of my pieces, complemented by inks, washes, and occasional bursts of spray paint that imbue the work with unexpected vibrancy and depth.
